The Nintendo UK Online Store seems to preview additional DLC’s other than the criticised Mercedes Benz DLC – ones with new courses and characters which will cause more diversity in the game and spice up your game-time!

Here’s the official description:

“Each Add On Content pack will contain two new cups, each with four courses, which, in total, increases the number of available courses by 50 percent. The Add On Content packs include classics like Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii, as well as new courses, some taking place in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. New vehicles will also arrive with each pack, including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise in the first AOC pack.”

There are three expected packs: The previously announced Mercedes Benz pack, ‘The Legend of Zelda’ pack & the ‘Animal Crossing’ pack! They are available to pre-order now on the Nintendo Online Store website, purchasing both separately are £7 each, yet you can buy them together in a bundle for £11! If you purchase both packs (either separately OR in the bundle) you will immediatedly unlock new Yoshi and new ShyGuy coloured characters to play, pre-release of the DLC packs!

This looks awesome!
Pack 1 – Expected to arrive in November 2014!

Pack 2 – Expected to arrive in May 2015!

This will be the first official Mario Kart game (other than the Namco Bandai arcade game) which will feature crossovers with other Nintendo franchises outside the Mario series – making it more similar to a Smash Bros game – of course other than the obvious idea that this is based on driving Karts and not fighting each other!

“Mario Kart 8 already includes the largest number of characters, karts and options of any Mario Kart game to date, and these amazing expansion packs give players even more choices.”

-Scott Moffitt, NOA Executive Vice President.

The long separate releases of the two Mario Kart DLC’s, with one in November 2014 and one in May 2015 allows the playback experiences of the game to be extended as there’s a longer time to await for all the DLC’s to play and experience the game – it’s an ingenious idea by Nintendo, as this is their first truly worthwhile DLC they’ve released, other than all the mini and slightly less relevant extensions.
