During today’s Nintendo Switch presentation, the starting price of the console was given at $299.99.
In comparison, the Wii U began at $299.99 (£250) for a basic model and $349.99 (£300) for the Deluxe 32gb model.
The Nintendo Switch will have to rival the current generations Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The Xbox One can now be purchased roughly around $240 (£190), while the Playstation 4 can instead cost around $260.95 (£217).
As the Nintendo Switch is higher priced than rival current generation consoles, Nintendo will need to rely on their line-up to be successful.
The Nintendo Switch will arrive in stores at March 3rd 2017.
